About KC Burgess Yakemovic
KC has been working with the Issue Based Information System (IBIS) method since the late 1980’s, when she learned about it from Jeff Conklin (author of Dialogue Mapping: Building Shared Understanding of Wicked Problems.) Almost immediately after being introduced to the concept, she began to teach others within her organization to use it.
In 2009, KC began teaching the Issue Mapping Webinar series with CogNexus Institute. In 2013 she completely redesigned and redeveloped the IBIS method and Compendium software training content for CogNexus Group, to focus the instruction and examples for the business environment. These courses are also marketed through KCBY Consulting.
In 2015, she created a book, Help! I have to think!, to bring the IBIS method to people who want to think about the challenges in life that are not necessarily business oriented.
Lest you think she is all work and no play, KC also is a classically trained soprano, who continues to perform. She studies both Okinawan and Japanese martial arts. And she also has a wonderful Golden Retriever rescue, Max, who loves to play and demands attention when she has spent too many hours at the computer!
